The preferences selection box can be accessed via "Preferences" in the main window pull-down menu.
Presently there are only two choices available in the preferences menu -
The horizontal tree preference allows you to select to invoke the equivalent of the old command "setenv ACEDB_HORIZONTAL_TREE" which affects the layout of the tree display.
The no grab window option allow users to choose whither they want to see or suppress the box "Select the object you want by double-clicking as though you were going to display it".
Any user can then save his/her preferences (the user does not need to be listed in passwd.wrm) and a file called .acedbrc will be written to their home directory. The preferences file will then be read any time the user runs xace. The .acedbrc file should not be edited should a user wish to change their preferences, instead the interactive preferences menu should be altered and saved.
A database administrator can set up default preferences setting by copying a .acedbrc file to database_dir/wspec/acedbrc.
PREFERENCES AVAILABLE IN THE NEAR FUTURE
In the near future users will be able to choose whether or not they wish to display empty objects (ghosts).
